In a momentous ceremony on December 16, 2023, at Tan Cang Tourist Area in Ho Chi Minh City, Artist Doan Viet Tien was honored with his 5th Vietnam Record and 2nd World Record. Presiding over the accolades were Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, Chairman of the World Records Union, Dr. Lawyer Nguyen Van Vien, and Dr. Nguyen Hoang Anh from the Vietnam Intellectual Property Institute.
Doan Viet Tien’s artistic journey spans over two decades, marked by a unique style of reverse glass painting. His artistic collection comprises over 350 portraits of world leaders, politicians, and cultural luminaries.
The event witnessed the prestigious recognition from both the World Records Union (WorldKings) and the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings). Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh Ngoc, General Secretary of VietKings, announced the Vietnamese record for Artist Doan Viet Tien, emphasizing his transformative approach through the art of Tam Phap Painting.
Dr. Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury presented the World Record to Tien, acknowledging his outstanding achievements. The portraits, exuding charisma and bravery, include iconic figures like President Ho Chi Minh, US President Donald Trump, and Venerable Thich Quang Duc.
Notably, Tien’s collection of President Ho Chi Minh’s portraits was showcased in a solo exhibition in 1999 at the Ho Chi Minh Museum. The Vietnam Record Organization recognized him as the first artist to create and paint portraits using the reverse glass technique on ten fingertips.
Tien’s artistry reflects his passion for capturing the essence of life. His paintings adorn prestigious museums worldwide, including the National Museum of Cuba and the US Presidential Palace. This celebration underlines the profound impact of Tien’s art on the global stage.
