Guo Liansheng (China) is the oldest cataract surgery patient at the age of 109. The operation was by Dr Chu Tao, a cataract expert at Shanghai New Vision Ophthalmic Hospital.

A total of 4,428 people danced to Bollywood songs on March 1, along with the masters of Zee TV’s talent hunt, Terrence Lewis and Remo D’Souza and 13 contestants of Season 3 (all Indian), Somaiya college grounds, Mumbai, India.

‘Swaradhika Dr. Dhari Pancham’Da’, a classical vocalist from Gujarat, India, played santoor  (an Indian musical instrument) for 29 hours, 29 minutes and 29 seconds, starting at 10.29am  on April 26, 2011 and ending at 4.02pm on April 27, 2011, at an event organized by the Pancham Academy of Indian Music during the conclusion ceremony of Swarnim Gujarat, at the Gajjar Hall, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. The type of music played on the Santoor consisted of 33 Bandishs of 29 Classical Indian Raagas (Raga is a melodic mode of Indian Classical Music).’

The Protheses Foundation (Thailand) donated and fitted 664 artificial legs in Sanamluang, Bangkok, Thailand, between July 16 and July 26, 2006.

Pudong Shangri-La Hotel in Shanghai has created the world’s longest Christmas cake. It is 1068-metre-long Yule log cake, created after 24 hours of hard work by 80 chefs during a charity event to raise funds for children suffering from cancer.  

The largest Hasapiko dance was achieved by Larnaca Municipality (Cyprus) at Europe Square, Larnaca, Cyprus, on December 12, 2010, where 749 dancers participated. All the participants were dressed in white shirt and black trousers and danced to the popular Greek song ‘Frankosyriani’ for five minutes.

580 students from nine universities around Turkey, painted a picture measuring 760.28 m², using spray, and completed it on August 16, 2004, at Hezarfen Airport, Istanbul, Turkey. The spray painting titled, ‘There is life on the street’, was made for Coca-Cola Ýçecek.

Norwegian Seafood Export Council (Norway), with the help of the student chefs from Zhonghua Vocational School in Shanghai (China), created the largest sushi mosaic at the 2010 World Expo Shanghai China, on October 15, 2010. The mosaic covered 20.13 m2 and used 120 kg of rice and 65 kg of Norwegian Salmon, and took 6 hours and 15 minutes to complete (not including preparation time). The attempt was supported by the Norwegian Embassy in Beijing and Furuseth Group.

The longest graffiti scroll measured 1,676.39 m (5,499 ft 11.47 in) long and was achieved by Junior Chamber International Malaysia and Junior Chamber International Mandarin Sibu (both Malaysia), at Kolej Laila Taib, Sibu, Sarawak (Malaysia) on 31 July 2011.

The largest flaming image using candles consisted of 35,478 candles and was achieved by 118 Sandoz employees (Pakistan) at the Hotel Serena in Faisalabad, Pakistan, on 10 December 2009. The completed image depicted the Sandoz logo and motto and had an area of 910.45 m² (9,800 ft²). It took the 118 participants 7 hours to draw the image, 1.5 hours to place the candles, and 42 minutes to light all of them.
