Sun Zibo and team of China set a record for achieving the biggest altitude change by a petrol-powered car at an event organised by MG brand of SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle Company of China in Laqiongla Mountains, Tibet Autonomous Region, China. They started their attempt at the Aiding Lake (- 148.379 m) on February 25, 2023, and ended at the Laqiongla Mountains (5,829.788 m) on March 6, 2023. They achieved the altitude change of 5,978.17 m (19,613ft 5in), driving a MG7 car, as confirmed on May 29, 2023.

Laos holds the record for being the maximum bombed country in world history. For ten years (1964-1973), the CIA conducted intensive daily aerial bombing campaigns over Laos. It was subjected to 580,344 bombing missions and a total of more than two million tons of aerial-dropped explosive ordnance. The bombing equates to one B-52 plane load of bombs being dropped every eight minutes for nine years – about two tons of bombs per person, as confirmed on May 24, 2023.
